About
OverNoise is a curation engine for itch.io. It discovers, enriches, and scores new indie game releases against editorial lenses you define, so the few that matter rise above the noise.
Why OverNoise?
itch.io publishes hundreds of new games every day — a relentless stream where
remarkable, strange, and deeply personal work gets buried under sheer volume.
Most of it never finds its audience, not because it isn't good, but because no
one can read the whole feed.
OverNoise exists to change that
ratio.
Rather than chase trends or rankings, it lets you encode your own
editorial taste — what a game must be, what makes it interesting, what
rules it out — and then applies that lens, tirelessly, to every release. The
machine does the reading; you do the deciding. What's left is a shortlist worth
your attention: the signal, pulled out of the noise.
Main Features
- Automatic catalog fetch — continuously discovers new itch.io releases (every 15 min), no manual input.
- Metadata enrichment — extracts each game's description, tags, and publication date from its itch.io page.
- User-defined curations — each curation is its own editorial lens (topics, keyword lists, tag sets, weights). The platform is curation-agnostic.
- Automatic scoring & curation — every game is scored against each curation by a BM25-saturation engine using the Five Intentions model (mandatory / essential / bonus / avoid / reject gates), auto-surfacing candidates above an adaptive threshold.
- LLM-assisted authoring — turn a free-text description of what you're looking for into a full set of scoring topics and word/tag corpus, grounded on itch.io's real tag catalog.
- Calibration loop — an LLM judge samples scored games, refines the topics, and proposes exclusion gates for your approval.
- Manual curation — promote candidates to your final Curator's choice selection.
- Explore — search and browse the full local catalog.
